27th Annual Scouting Golf Classic Brings Community Together to Support Local Youth

Strong competition, a spirited Par-Tee kickoff, and generous sponsors highlight another successful day at Findlay Country Club

The Black Swamp Area Council, Scouting America, hosted its 27th Annual Scouting Golf Classic on May 21, 2026, at the Findlay Country Club, welcoming community leaders, businesses, and supporters for a day of golf, fellowship, and impact.

The event kicked off the evening prior with the returning Par-Tee celebration, where participants gathered for food, drinks, and camaraderie, setting the tone for a memorable outing. Players then returned the next morning for a full day of golf, competition, and on-course activities, all in support of local Scouting programs.

“This event is about more than just a great day on the course—it’s about bringing our community together to invest in young people,” said Scout Executive Marc Kogan. “From the Par-Tee to the final putt, the energy and support for Scouting were incredible.”

The tournament was played in a scramble format, encouraging teamwork and keeping the competition tight throughout the day. That competitive spirit was evident on the leaderboard, where the top three teams all finished with outstanding scores of 61. A scorecard playoff was used to determine the final standings.

In addition to the tournament, players enjoyed a variety of interactive “Scout Games,” on-course contests, and a post-event reception and awards ceremony, creating a full day experience both on and off the course.

“The Golf Classic continues to grow because of the incredible support from our partners and participants,” Kogan added. “Every team, every sponsor, and every volunteer plays a role in helping us deliver life-changing experiences for youth across our region.”

The success of this year’s event was made possible through the generous support of sponsors, led by Doty Dental as the lead sponsor, along with dozens of additional corporate and community partners.

Proceeds from the outing directly benefit Scouting programs across Northwest and West Central Ohio, ensuring that local youth have access to leadership development, outdoor adventure, and character-building experiences. As always, 100% of the funds raised stay local to serve youth in the council’s 13-county footprint.

A unique highlight of the event is its direct impact on local Scouts: each of the top three teams is recognized with a campership in their honor, helping provide youth the opportunity to attend summer camp.

With another successful outing in the books, the Black Swamp Area Council looks forward to continuing this tradition of community partnership, competition, and commitment to helping young people grow into future leaders.
