Roland Choate joins Black Swamp Area Council

Black Swamp Area Council is pleased to welcome Roland Choate as District Executive for Old Sycamore District, serving the counties of Auglaize, Mercer and Van Wert. He joins the team here after transferring from Bay Area Council, located in Galveston, TX., where he served in the same position for more than a year.

“I have learned much from my experience there with a wonderful group of volunteers. I am lucky to have found a position on a strong team here at Black Swamp,” Roland shared. “Thank you for the opportunity to continue serving Scouting here in Ohio.”

A native Texan, Roland is a lifelong Scouter since he was 7 and earning the rank of Eagle in 1991. In his lifetime in Scouting, he has served in various roles from camp staff, event & program efforts, Order of the Arrow, and other Scouting volunteer positions. Roland and his wife Kathy are the parents of 3 children. Prior to joining Scouting professionally, he had been involved in the emergency medical field for nearly 30 years.
