Mia Kohli of Troop 106 has earned the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, becoming the first young woman in the Great Oaks District to achieve this honor since Scouts BSA opened its program to girls in 2019.

Mia's path to Eagle Scout reflects a deep commitment to service, leadership, and outdoor adventure. Over the years, she has grown through challenges that shaped her confidence, from leading her troop during summer camp to giving back to her community in meaningful ways. She has spent time exploring trails, camping under the stars, and completing a broad range of merit badges that reflect both personal growth and diverse interests.

For her Eagle project, Mia partnered with Shawnee Elmwood Primary School, Pheasants Forever, the Kiwanis Aktion Club, and school staff to design and install a demonstration pollinator habitat. The project encourages children to connect with nature, learn about the importance of pollinators, and overcome fear of bees by understanding their role in the ecosystem.

Mia’s journey is one of service and advocacy, especially for animals and the environment. She credits Scouts BSA and Troop 106 with teaching her to speak up, take initiative, and lead with purpose. As the first girl in her district to earn the Eagle rank, she has paved the way for other young women to follow.
