Eagle Class of 2019 recognized for accomplishments

It was a great night for Scouting as Black Swamp Area Council virtually celebrated the Eagle Scout Class of 2019.

The event’s presenting sponsors were Cotterman & Company, and McDonald’s Ball Family Restaurants, who’s support helped with recognizing the 109 Eagle Scouts in the class.

The event is an opportunity to say “thank you” to each Scout for their hard work and commitment in achieving this honor.

Eagle Scout Doug Meffley served as Masters of Ceremonies for the evening, leading the celebration of the success and accomplishments of the Scouts.

Ohio Supreme Court Justice Sharon L. Kennedy was the evening’s Keynote Speaker and her encouraging message will serve as a great foundation for the Eagles as they move forward in life. She urged each Scout to remember their accomplishments, but to look forward, explore, discover, and commit to the dream of what lies ahead in the future.

Braydon Adams spoke to the group as the 2019 Paul M. and Lucy Gilmor Scholarship Recipient. He receives the $1,000 scholarship for his “What an Eagle Scout Represents to Me” essay. He is a member of Troop 69 in Celina. He is well on his way to a bright future and has already proven successful as a local business owner, crediting his Scouting background and training in aiding his success.

The event was a collaboration of many individuals with Wayne and Nina Dukes leading the way. They were supported by Curt Brookhart, Marc Kogan, Kora Burtch, Tom James, Chad Bryan, Mark Miller, Dan Meffley, Mike Saxton, and the Council Advancement Committee. National Youth Leadership Training staff presented the flag ceremony.

The Black Swamp Area Council congratulates each of the Eagle Scouts, and their families, who stood with each of these young men during their journey down the Scouting trail. We are proud of your accomplishments and look forward to your future success.
