Troop 31 Scout completes Eagle project

Hunter Burton of Troop 31 sponsored by the First United Methodist Church in Van Wert recently completed all Eagle Scout requirements and successfully passed his Eagle Scout Board of Review and  was awarded the Eagle Scout Rank by the National Boy Scouts of America.

Hunter’s project consisted of purchasing three commercial grade picnic tables requiring assembly and constructing a concrete pad with a handicap ramp in the American Legion Memorial Park in Van Wert.

Rechartering Information & Helps

Just a reminder the annual charter process is underway. A communication on how to recharter your unit along with links embedded on how-tos and helps was emailed to the Key 3 of each unit in October and on Dec. 7.

With the posted due date of Dec. 15, please see that your unit has completed this process in a timely manner. For those of you who have already submitted and had your charters “Posted” – thank you!

Scouts in St. Mary's help community celebrate Thanksgiving

Troop 38 along with some of their younger brothers from Pack 36, both from St. Marys, spent their Thanksgiving lunch time working at the St. Mary's Community Thanksgiving meal.

The boys helped with preparing the to go meals, busing tables and resetting the table for the next party.

All together there were 525 meals served. In their free time they socialized with some of the people dining. Then after the meal they helped tear down and cleaning up the area. All together there were 35 hours served.

Scouting in the Black Swamp Area Council began in 1915 when the Scouting program was introduced to the young people of West Central and Northwestern Ohio.More than 5,400 individuals are participating in the local program as a Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturers, Explorers and adult volunteers.
