Boy Scouts have been doing good deeds in America since 1910. Every year on February 8th we celebrate the founding of our great organization. The start of Boy Scouts has a foggy beginning with William D. Boyce.

William D. Boyce, who was an American newspaperman, became lost on a foggy day in London. A Boy Scout came to his assistance. With the boy as his guide, Boyce arrived at his destination. When Boyce offered payment for his assistance, the Boy Scout refused explaining it was his good turn.

Boyce was inspired by this young man’s behavior and asked to talk to his leader, Baden-Powell, a founder of Scouts in England. When William D. Boyce came home he met with Ernest Seaton and Dan Beard who each were leaders of youth organizations and together on February 8, 1910 filed papers of incorporation and the Boy Scouts of America was born.

In this 108th year of the founding of the BSA I challenge you to reflect on the famous words of Lord Baden-Powell, “Try and leave this world a little better than you found it.”

We’ve had a great start to our year here in Arrowwood. As a Council we just got back from our annual planning conference and we have our District goals set. One of the main goal of this spring is to recruit a Den Leader Champion along with other members of our committee. If you think you are interested in some of these positions or you would like to recommend someone please come talk to me. We are also beginning to prep for the Family of Scouting coming in the Fall!
