Between $2,000 and $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to Eagle Scouts who have shown active participation in school, Scouting activities, and community service. In addition, they will have demonstrated a commitment to Leadership Friendship & Service. The award for this program will be made in June with recognition of the winner(s) and national finalists during the Fall Semester.

Nowhere is this better exemplified than in the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest attainable rank in Boy Scouting. Scouts must demonstrate proficiency in leadership, service, and outdoor skills at multiple levels before achieving the Eagle Scout rank; fewer than 4 percent of Boy Scouts earn the coveted rank. Over the past century, the hard-earned rank has become widely recognized—both in and outside of Scouting—as a mark of distinction. This scholarship will reward those who have gone above and beyond.

APO, was founded by Scouts for Scouts — transporting the Scouting commitment to service into college, where service projects are a great way to give back, make friends and strengthen résumés. This program seeks to enhance and enable that connection between the high school and college experiences by growing a commitment to service.

Funding for this scholarship comes from the membership of the APO Eagles Association. Several generous donations and matching funds have gotten this started. The National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) allows Eagle Scout alumni to continue to stay in touch with BSA programs, hear positive stories about the BSA’s impact on the community, and learn the latest methods provided by Scouting to transform the lives of young men & women through the tenets of leadership, character development, citizenship, and physical fitness. NESA is also an outlet for alumni to network and collaborates with one another under the common banner of Scouting, which may include increasing business connections and participating in service to the BSA or other organizations.
