WHAT'S HOT?

Don't Miss Out on Parent & Pal!

Did you know that there is still one more camp left this summer? The last camp of the summer is Parent and Pal – August 12th and 13th. It is not too late to attend!! Don’t miss out on the best fun of the summer. Dinosaurs and Dragons will be roaming Camp Berry for the weekend. Lots of special activities are scheduled along with the regular cub scout activities. And with Balloon Fest happening the same weekend, you may even see some hot air ballooons fly over camp! Bring the whole family!!! You have until August 4th to register on-line. Don’t miss out on the FUN!!!! I hope to see you there.

42 days still Lift Off; Membership Champions Needed

This year's 'Rocket Into Scouting' night is September 14th across all of Northwest Ohio. We are collaborating with Erie Shores Council to help better maximize marketing and awareness for families to come out and join Scouting. How your unit can prepare? It’s time to start identifying your unit's Membership Champion for this year. We will be having our membership kickoff at roundtable August 8th for Old Sycamore District and August 10th for Chinquapin, Great Oaks, and Arrowwood Districts. Membership Champions help participate in school open house nights, help market Scouting in your community and school, attend the September 14th kickoff, follow up with families and promote Scouting. Please submit your Membership Champion's contact information to your District Executive. This is one of the most fun and important roles to help grow Scouting in your unit!

Membership and Popcorn Kickoff

Each unit needs at least two (2) representatives to attend the two break-out sessions that take place at the same time. Information will be shared about this Fall's annual Popcorn Sale and this Fall's Join Scouting Recruiting campaign. This year, units will have the opportunity to accept new youth applications into your unit. Units can also invite people to register within your unit. Additional information will be coming through the month of July. Key unit leadership such as committee chair, charter organization representative, and cubmaster/scoutmaster will have access to online registration. All this will be done through your my.scouting.org account.  For additional information, please see http://www.scouting.org/onlineregistration.aspx

Unit Committee Training Pack and Troop

The Executive Board of the Black Swamp Area Council adopted a training requirement for adult volunteers in the council in 2012. Those training requirements are being phased in over a number of years. The goal of the training is to enhance the programs offered to our youth members so that more of them will stay in Scouting. Lions Program

Training will be available at the August Roundtables.

Cub Scout Packs – The Lions program is coming to kindergartens this fall. Key unit leaders have received the Lion overview in the mail in March. Packs need to evaluate and decide if the unit is going to participate in Lions Program this fall. Units participating in the Lions program will need to recruit their Lions Guide and have them attend August’s roundtable for Lion Guide training. A Lion Guide is a registered position within the Pack. Volunteers cannot dual role positions (current cubmaster, den leader, or committee member cannot dual role in this position)Please fill out the Lion commitment form and Lion overview.
