We the Students Essay Contest

The Boy Scouts of America is a national partner with the Bill of Rights Institute (www.billofrightsinstitute.org), a charitable organization that promotes and educates people about the freedoms in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  This year, the Bill of Rights Institute is offering more than $30,000 in prizes and incentives for students 14 years of age and older.

They are asking Scouts to write a 500-800 word essay on the ongoing debate between liberty and security.

Here's the prompt:

Our Founders believed that the Bill of Rights should guarantee your individual liberty. But how has our government compromised on your rights in the name of security?

Interested Scouts will write an essay addressing the prompt for a chance to win more than one of 30 different prizes.

But wait, there's more!

This year, they are offering an added exclusive grand prize of $2,500 to the winning Boy Scout. The winner's troop will receive $500 as an added bonus.
